I’m “a mom” and the single only thing I haven’t given up from that list is honey. (I have an occasional glass of wine, too). I might have had foods that defined me in the past, but as we’ve searched for ways to be healthy we’ve ended up dropping one favorite after another…. sigh. ๐ I’m all about moderation usually but until we get gut healing complete it’s a pretty sparse menu… Actually I might have to say fruit defines me. Not so much for myself, but for my kids. We need to wean off of too much fruit…. Good times! ๐
Good points, Deb. Moderation can be key (and enough) with certain goals, and not enough for others (like gut healing or auto-immune conditions).
My biggest challenge is when someone says they won’t try going without for a short time because it’s a food that they can’t give up. If one can’t give up a food for 30 Days then maybe that person has a bigger problem with that food than they think (addiction) OR they simply don’t want it bad enough.
We rarely have to give up foods from these lists permanently, but if the thought of trying to go without scares you that much, look deeper.
