Last time, we had our first lesson on one of the most confusing aspects of diet and nutrition; the labels on packages of food.

Why are they so confusing, anyway? Weren’t these labels designed to inform you and make your life easier? Originally, yes. Years ago, when the labeling laws were established, the purpose was to inform you, the consumer of what’s in that package. But over time, the labeling laws, and the resulting labels, were dumbed down to the point where things are more confusing than ever.
